Song Beneath The Song

Cover songs can be tricky.  You’ll get one person who loves it and another who bashes it to pieces.  My personal opinion is that cover songs are all about well, personal opinion.  I’ve included below, 23 that I think deserve some praise.  Please know, that I know, that these are not the end all and be all of good cover songs, but just a quaint little collection that may catch your ear as they did mine.  My favorite? When they sound absolutely nothing like the original. (Side note: they are in no specific order of favoritism).

My Boys” by Taken by Trees: original is “My Girls” by Animal Collective

Screaming Infidelities” by Joanna: original by Dashboard Confessional

Mamma Mia” by Miniature Tigers: original by ABBA

Womanizer” by Timid Tiger: original by Britney Spears

Romeo & Juliet” by The Killers: original by Dire Straits

If you have any really good covers that you want to share, go ahead! I’m always up for some new tunes.
